Why go
Chiatura's steep topography made cable cars part of the town's everyday transport history. From public streets around the river-level centre, the lines and stations make that vertical geography easy to read, even without stepping into a cabin.
Historic photographs here show the network in 2015, not a guarantee that those cabins still carry passengers. If you want to ride, confirm which line is operating for the public that day, where to board and how to return. A closed or disused station is not an invitation to explore inside.
