Why go
Gori Fortress rises from the rocky hill at the centre of town. Its surviving walls make the city's strategic position visible: streets spread below, while the surrounding plain and hills extend beyond them.
Go for the setting as much as for a detailed interior exhibition. The climb is exposed and surfaces can be uneven, so take the ascent at your own pace and be ready to stop at a safe viewpoint rather than reaching every part of the ruin.
