Why go
The ruins of Katskhi Fortress stand beside the Katskhuri River on a rocky site. They are distinct from both Katskhi Pillar and the surviving village church.
Treat the remains as an exterior heritage stop and avoid climbing weakened masonry. The river cliffs make footing and boundaries especially important.
