Why visit
Prometheus Cave, near Kumistavi in Tskaltubo municipality, is a managed visitor route through a series of large chambers and formations. The protected-areas agency describes the walking tour as roughly an hour inside the cave.
What to expect
Treat this as its own excursion from Kutaisi. A boat segment may be offered separately, but it depends on water conditions and should not be assumed to be part of every visit. The cave's lighting and guided format make it a different experience from an open-air walk.
Expect a managed route
Visitors follow the operating format available on the day rather than roaming independently through the cave. Confirm ticketing, tour language and the final entry arrangements before travelling. If a specific time matters, leave a buffer for queues and do not plan a tight onward connection immediately afterward.
Treat the boat as optional
The walking route is the dependable core of the visit. Water level and safety decisions can remove the boat segment even when the cave remains open, so judge the outing on the chambers themselves. Sataplia is a separate protected-area experience, not an interchangeable extension of the same ticket.
