Shalauri's cellars make a useful wine outing from Telavi. Dakishvili Family Vineyards identifies its cellar in the village and publishes a dedicated tasting-reservation contact. Its wine list includes white and amber Kisi, amber Rkatsiteli and Saperavi Qvevri, giving you specific styles to ask about rather than requesting an unspecified house wine.
What to expect
Ask the host to explain how the wines differ in grape, skin contact and ageing vessel. A side-by-side comparison can be more revealing than a larger number of pours. The actual selection depends on the appointment; the catalogue is not a guaranteed tasting menu. This is a producer visit, distinct from Tsinandali's historic house and garden.
