Shiomghvime was founded in the sixth century and later grew into a major monastic centre. Its churches and cave setting invite a visit with time to look beyond the main courtyard.
The monastery remains active. Arrange a return journey from Mtskheta and respect worship, closed buildings and any photography limits.
