Dariali Monastery is a recent complex in an ancient transit gorge. Its stone buildings, mosaics and river setting contrast with the older hilltop Gergeti church.
The gorge is a working border route, so traffic can be heavy. Keep this a separate outing and follow the monastery's visitor rules.
