Why go
Ikalto's monastery and academy have a long place in Kakheti's religious and educational history. The surviving buildings and grounds reward a slower look than a roadside photo stop.
It is a separate visit from Tsinandali and Alaverdi. Check which areas are open and plan a return from the village.
