Khertvisi rises where the Paravani and Mtkvari rivers meet. Its walled citadel and layered repairs make it more than a roadside silhouette.
It is a separate destination south of Akhaltsikhe, even if you travel toward Vardzia on the same day. Allow time for the approach and return.
