Why go
The Gudauri–Kobi cable car crosses mountain terrain between the resort and the Kobi side of the pass. From the cabin, the landscape becomes the main event. It is a separate choice from skiing, especially for someone who wants the view without spending a day on the pistes.
You can approach the lift from either side, but Kobi is not in Stepantsminda itself. Do not plan the ride as guaranteed onward transport or an always-open sightseeing loop. Lift operation depends on season and weather; confirm passenger access, ticket and return arrangements, and any road transfer before setting out.
