Why go
Queen Darejan's fortress at Tsurtavi has four corner towers and a compact walled plan. It stands apart from Bolnisi's early churches, showing how the region was defended in a later era.
A convent now occupies part of the site. Look at the surviving walls from permitted areas and allow time for the road journey from Bolnisi.
