Why go
Borjomi asks for a different pace from the high Caucasus. Begin in Central Park, where the mineral-water spring is part of an everyday stroll, and visit the local museum for the valley's longer human story. The sulfur pools beyond the park make a longer walk; Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is a separate hiking day, with visitor-centre registration and a route chosen to match your ability. You can enjoy the town without taking on a full trail, but staying longer gives the forest room in the trip.
When to go
Late spring to early autumn is a useful window for the walks in this guide. Weather and trail conditions still vary; check the national park's current advice before committing to a longer hike.
Getting there
Reach Borjomi overland from Tbilisi or elsewhere in Georgia. Check current rail and road services before choosing a departure; longer walks also need a separate plan for reaching their trailheads.
The trade-off
Borjomi is a forest-valley stay, not a substitute for Stepantsminda's high-alpine scenery. The national park's longer routes need registration, transport and weather planning rather than a spontaneous start from the park gate.
