Why go
Jvari Monastery stands above the meeting of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Its compact cross-domed church belongs to the same UNESCO property as Svetitskhoveli and Samtavro, but its hilltop setting gives a different perspective on Mtskheta.
The view is part of the visit, yet the monastery is more than a panorama stop. Look at the building and its stone details, then take in the river valleys from the established visitor area. Plan the return transfer before going up.
