Why go
Svetitskhoveli stands at the centre of Mtskheta and is one of the three components of the town's UNESCO World Heritage property. The present cathedral dates from the eleventh century, above earlier churches on a site central to Georgian Christianity.
Allow time to take in the exterior stonework and the parts of the interior open to visitors. This remains a place of worship, so a service may shape where you can stand and when photography is appropriate.
